Mackie Going All The Way in HBO’s Martin Lurther King Adaptation

Anthony Mackie has been cast as Martin Luther King, Jr in HBO’s adaptation of Robert Schenkkan’s Broadway play, “All The Way”, which centres on President Lyndon B Johnson’s efforts to manoeuvre members of the 88th United States Congress to enact, and Martin Luther King Jr, to support, the Civil Rights Act of 1964.

Breaking Bad’s Bryan Cranston won the Tony Award for Best Actor for his performance on Broadway as LBJ, and he will also co-star in the HBO production, Melissa Leo will play Lady Bird Johnson in the project which will be directed by Jay Roach.

It’s a busy time for Mackie who is currently filming as The Falcon in Marvel’s next big outing “Captain America-Civil War” and has also been in talks to star in a yet to be titled biopic of American track and field hero Jesse Owens for Relativity films.
